Beauty and Ugliness

The horrors and terrible miseries we are living in this time are transported into the canvas by painters and turned into beauty. When contemplated on a canvas, all sort of horrors can appear beautiful. When in the true presence of them, their ugliness is hellish. We must not forget that they do exist and are very much real, not a mask in a Shakespearian tragedy.

Red isn't blood; black is nothing but shadows. Blackness doesn't exist; it's like that moment when the acrobat is in the air.
