An Ode to Pain

In the same way I state that the color red is not blood, that love isn’t pain, that there is love without pain… pain is the  fertiliser that makes love grow and keep on. Christ fertilised love in the Earth with his painful death.

This does not mean that one must suffer in order to love, but rather that the purest expression of love is suffering for the pain of our loved ones.

Pain is not unity, but it does unite people who love each other. In times of war, it unites those who suffer; in times of peace it unites those who love each other.

Surrendering to a loved one involves pain, since even when there is no physical suffering, there is a fear of feeling our loved ones suffering.

True love is base don mutual pain; that’s why pain can turno out to be wonderful, despite the suffering it entails. Therefore, we shouldn’t fear suffering for a loved on, but rather see that pain as a token of our love.
